With presidential elections being held in Swilatia on the 6 and 13 of May, this year, this thread will include information about the candidates, etc.

First round of primaries

United Democratic Party: Mariana Alijewska, Andrzej Janeski, Karen Nadmirski, Vayane Rivana, Sabina Romanska

Liberal Party: No primary will be held (Alicja Wenejska running for re-election)

Central Party: Stefan Kaminski, Marian Walentyna, Kamil Nowienski

Green Party: Malena Dominska, Janusz Koniewksi, Aysel Narsanye

Democratic Socialist Party: Anna Hasanowa, Roman Milanowski, Alexei Sarenski, Julian Stefanowski

Swilatian People's Party: Wiktor Androwicz, Daniel Mirowski, Stefan Pomianski

With polls open today, here's a quick summary of what's going on.

United Democratic Party: The UDP primary is expected to become a contest between Karen Nadmirski and Sabina Romanska, a second round between these two candidates is very likely. Former (one-term) president Andrzej Janeski is also running, but is not expected to win many votes.

Liberal Party: No primary will be held, as the current president, Alicja Weneska, has anounced that she will be running for a second term.

Central Party: Marian Walentyna is expected to win outright, without a second round.

Green Party: Aysel Narsanye is expected to win outright, without a second round.

Democratic Socialist Party: This primary is still difficult to call, Roman Milanowski, Alexei Sarenski, and Julian Stefanowski all have popular support, and a second between any two of those is extremely likely.

Swilatian People's Party: Daniel Mirowski and Stefan Pomianski are both seen as possible winners in this party, with Daniel expected to do well with hardline SPP supporters, while Stefan would recieve support from more moderate voters. A second round is seen as a possibility.
